Electrical Service Questions
Do I need a panel upgrade?
If your home has a fuse box, a 100-amp panel, or you're adding major electrical loads like an EV charger, hot tub, or workshop, you likely need an upgrade. Signs include frequently tripped breakers, flickering lights when appliances turn on, or running out of panel space. We'll assess your current system and recommend the right upgrade for your needs.
How much does it cost to install an EV charger?
The cost depends on your panel capacity, the distance from the panel to the charger location, and the charger model. A typical Level 2 installation ranges from a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars for the electrical work. We provide a free estimate after evaluating your specific setup.
Is my older home's wiring safe?
Homes built before the 1970s may have aluminum wiring, knob-and-tube, or other outdated wiring that can be a fire hazard. Even if it was safe when installed, age and increased electrical demand can create dangerous conditions. A safety inspection will identify any concerns and give you clear options.
Do you pull permits for electrical work?
Yes. When permits are required by local code — which includes most panel upgrades, new circuit installations, and rewiring work — we handle the entire permit and inspection process. Permitted work protects you, your insurance, and your home's resale value.
Do I need a whole-home surge protector?
We strongly recommend it. Colorado sees frequent thunderstorms, and power surges can also come from the utility grid or large appliances cycling on and off. A whole-home surge protector at your panel costs a fraction of replacing a fried HVAC system, refrigerator, or home theater setup.
Can you wire a hot tub or pool?
Yes. Hot tubs and pools have strict NEC code requirements for dedicated circuits, GFCI protection, disconnect switches, and bonding. We handle the complete installation to code, including permit coordination and inspection. Never attempt to wire a hot tub or pool yourself — the combination of water and electricity requires professional installation.
